There have been several reports that the Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup may arrive earlier than usual, and many observers are now predicting a January release. New regulatory filings are proving that they may be right.

According to 91mobiles, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has certified a new Samsung phone with the model number SM-928B/DS, the same as the one believed to be associated with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This certification, posted on the BIS website, is usually given to smartphones given a few weeks before the launch of a smartphone, suggesting that the Galaxy S24 may be launched soon.

The BIS listing does not include any details about the smartphone, but in early November the Bluetooth SIG website similarly listed a Samsung Galaxy S24 model, believed to be the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and stated that it would include an S Pen stylus It was stated that an S Pen stylus would be included.

This string of regulatory clearances came at a time when rumors surrounding the Galaxy S24's release date suggested that Samsung was moving up its launch. Earlier this year, the Galaxy S23 was released in February, the same month the Galaxy S22 first appeared in 2022.

Most recently, reports from South Korea indicate that Samsung has internally set a January 17 launch date for the Galaxy S24 and that the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event will take place in San Jose, California. According to this schedule, pre-orders for the Galaxy S24 would begin on January 19, followed by a release by the end of January.

Samsung has not commented on the reports, nor has it shared much about its plans for the upcoming phone, but all signs point to a considerable upgrade across the line: for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the 6.8-inch AMOLED display and may run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. There are also reports that Samsung will use a titanium frame for the S24 Ultra (and possibly other models). Samsung has also hinted that AI will play a major role in the new models.

If the Galaxy S24 does indeed arrive in early 2024, it may not be the only Galaxy S24; OnePlus has already confirmed plans to launch the OnePlus 12 in China next month, and the global launch of its flagship could follow in early 2024, so the Galaxy S24 will suddenly be a contender.
