Ubisoft is getting into the holiday spirit a little early this year. In anticipation of the festive season coming up next month, the giant game publisher is now giving away one of the most underrated titles in its best-selling Assassin's Creed series for free.

You can get the PC version of "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" for free by visiting Ubisoft Connect. This early holiday gift is available through December 6. Unfortunately for console players, the PS4 and Xbox One versions, playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X, are not included in this giveaway. However, Sony has just launched an end-of-year sale on the PlayStation Store, and even if you don't have the best gaming PC, there are plenty of inexpensive options available.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate launched in 2015, moving the historical action-adventure franchise to 19th century Victorian-era London. You play as twin Assassins Jacob and Evie Frye as they attempt to reclaim the famed city from the rule of the sinister Templars. You will accomplish this not only by hunting down key targets, but also by recruiting Londoners into the street gang The Rooks.

Despite its mostly positive reception, Assassin's Creed Syndicate paid the price of its predecessor, Assassin's Creed Unity, and initial sales were lower than expected. This forced the previously annual franchise to take a two-year hiatus, only to reemerge in 2017 with Assassin's Creed Origins. A clear franchise revamp

"Assassin's Creed Syndicate" has often been labeled as one of the most underrated entries in the franchise, which I definitely agree with. I replayed the game earlier this year and found it to be an amazingly enjoyable experience. The visuals are still stunning after all these years, and the black box missions (which give you a lot of freedom in how you eliminate targets) remain wonderfully original.

I would argue that Syndicate is a better overall experience than Assassin's Creed Mirage, which was released in October. However, I am somewhat biased. Having once lived in London, I take great pleasure whenever I can explore a digital recreation of the iconic capital. That said, even if you've never visited the UK, the syndicate has a lot to offer. And now it's free, so if you skipped it at launch, there's no reason not to play it again.
