'GTA6' Trailer Debuts - Over a Decade of Moments, Modern-Day Miami Vice and Florida Man Chaos Intersect

The first look at GTA 6 came earlier than expected, with Rockstar releasing the trailer 14 hours earlier than the scheduled release date.

The trailer gives us a small hint as to how the story is structured, along with a sizzle realism of the Florida Everglades-inspired backcountry and a truly beautifully rendered Vice City.

Combine all of this with an interesting social media focus and we see a modern Miami Vice with a Florida Man mixed in for chaotic emphasis. For more, see why one Tom's Guide editor thinks the "GTA 6" location is a big mistake.

The trailer depicts a (Miami inspired) modern-day Vice City in a (frankly) graphically astonishing depiction. The story seems to revolve around a female protagonist named Lucia and a couple of unnamed male protagonists on a Bonnie and Clyde-like getaway.

Along with the fantastic visuals, lived-in world, and hints at the story, there also seems to be an interesting social media angle, with a section in the middle of the film showing a series of TikTok-like posts (whether or not rock stars would call them parodies of social media services) There are.

How does this relate to the game? As of now, the year is 2025.

P.S. There are crocodiles in this world.

So what caused this sudden change of plans? A leak. About an hour ago (at the time of writing), more than 14 hours before the official announcement, the full trailer was revealed and X shined.

Initially, Rockstar did its best to contain these leaks, with numerous accounts being suspended. However, plans changed, and the studio decided not to fight the tidal wave, but instead to move up the release of the trailer.
