Lenovo is said to be moving its earbuds into the premium market through a new Yoga-branded lineup inspired by the likes of the Apple AirPods Pro 2
The "Yoga True Wireless Stereo Earbuds," or simply "Yoga TWS earbuds," a potential competitor to Lenovo's AirPods Pro, could mean new leverage in the premium earphone market
Leaked images of the Yoga TWS, originally published by Windows Report, show sleek black earbuds and the all-too-familiar Yoga typeface-branded accessory case, as seen on the Yoga Book 9i and Yoga C940, It is best known for Lenovo's premium model line, and the upcoming earphones represent a potentially high-priced product [Both earphones could include three microphones (six total), a 40mAh earphone battery, and a 500mAh case battery Besides, they are said to offer active noise cancellation (ANC), a frequency range of 20-20000Hz, and 122mm internal drivers
Lenovo's Yoga TWS earphones reportedly have a battery life of 65 hours with ANC off and 33 hours with the included charging case Against Apple's second-generation AirPods, the Yoga TWS may have about 30 minutes of battery life without a charging case and another 3 hours with a charging case, but will this be enough competition?
According to Windows Report, the earbuds target the primary use case of conference calls and are not positioned in the fitness category or the general music listening market Therefore, the earbuds may be a hot commodity for corporate needs, as opposed to a more general consumer approach
Also, by including interoperability with a variety of Lenovo devices, the Yoga TWS would be an easier sell for those already well situated within the Lenovo ecosystem A key part of this streamlining effort is the AirPods Pro-like open-to-connect feature, which allows users to simply open the earphone case near their Lenovo laptop or tablet for instant, seamless connectivity
Reportedly, the earbuds will feature Voice ID, which uses PC-based and earbud-based speech recognition software to enhance spoken words and intelligibility during calls The Yoga TWS earphones can also be paired with multiple devices, allowing users to easily switch between cell phones, tablets, laptops, and gaming consoles
It remains to be seen how accurate these leaked specs will be once Lenovo officially announces information and MSRP for the Yoga TWS, but signs seem to point to a possible reveal at CES 2024
If that is too far off, or if you are more inclined to the Apple ecosystem, the AirPods Pro 2 is already available at a discounted price and may be a better choice for you this holiday season
