Xbox Cloud Gaming Now Available for Meta Quest Headsets - Here's How to Play

At the October Meta Connect event, Microsoft announced that it would bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to Meta's headsets. Now the two companies have made good on that promise, with Meta's Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro headsets now able to access the Xbox Cloud Gaming service.

Like Xbox Cloud Gaming on other platforms, the Quest version is still officially in beta. As such, please keep in mind that you may not get an absolutely perfect experience. Also, as elsewhere, playing the game requires a wireless Xbox compatible controller and a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Quest's support does not magically transform Xbox games into immersive 3D VR experiences. It doesn't work that way. But it will be like having a regular TV strapped to your face, albeit probably larger than you're used to. It also has the added benefit of being slightly more immersive because it is shielded from outside distractions.

You have to contend with the fact that Quest's battery life is not the best, with gameplay lasting two to three hours at most. Not many people will want to wear the headset for long periods of time, no matter how comfortable it is at first.

The Quest 3 and Quest Pro headsets also appear to support pass-through functionality.

The Xbox Cloud Gaming app is available from the Meta Quest Store and requires only a simple download to get started. Once logged in and verified that you have a valid subscription, you will be able to play Bethesda's Starfield, Halo Infinite, Grand Theft Auto 5, Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, and too many more to mention here! You'll be able to play games from titles too numerous to list here. All without paying any additional fees or having to download them to your Xbox console.

Would it be a reason to go out and buy a Meta headset? Probably not. But if you already have a Meta Quest headset (a non-original one), it might give you one more reason to wear it. Nevertheless, you might want to opt for the Elite Strap with the additional battery pack to avoid being forced out of the game prematurely.
