AirPods Pro 3 coming in 2025 with significant health feature upgrades

Bad news for fans of Apple's AirPods Pro: the next set of Apple's beloved earbuds, tentatively titled AirPods Pro 3, may not be released until 2025, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The report, led by Apple insider Mark Gurman, focuses primarily on Apple's wearable products like the AirPods 4 and Vision Pro, but includes some important advances for the Pro 3, which could appear in 2025

The report also includes a number of important advances for the Pro 3, which could arrive in 2025.

So what health features are on the horizon? According to Garman, Apple may be trying to make the next upgraded AirPods Pro an all-encompassing audio solution by including a biometric monitor, temperature sensor, and an upgraded chipset in the form of H3.

Given how important the wearable business is to Apple, it will be interesting to see how far the company is willing to go with its most expensive and advanced true wireless earbuds.

What is important about Garman's post is that the AirPods Pro 3 will likely take advantage of exciting health technology upgrades. The enhanced H3 chip may give room for more advanced health-based features, such as built-in hearing tests; the AirPods Pro 3 could also take advantage of this to better amplify music and sound to the wearer's hearing level.

The next generation AirPods Pro may also have more advanced concepts that see the potential to enhance the wearer's hearing: the AirPods Pro 2 utilizes Conversation Boost to reduce ambient noise and make spoken words much easier to hear, and this It would not be surprising if the feature is further optimized to provide personalized amplification.

Unlike Dyson's funky-looking Zone headset with its built-in air purifier, the AirPods Pro 3 could add beneficial health tech features such as biometric monitoring and temperature sensors. The latter makes the most sense, given that ear temperatures tend to be more accurate than wrist-based ones.

Unfortunately, not much is known about a definite release date; in a Bloomberg newsletter, Garman noted that the release of the next-generation AirPods Pro will likely coincide with Apple's September iPhone event.
