LG to Debut 98-inch QNED TV at CES 2024, Significantly Upgrades Image with AI

If you thought AI was a big trend for 2023, you ain't seen nothing yet LG is pushing AI to the forefront with its new lineup of QNED and QNED Mini LED TVs to be announced at CES 2024, with plenty of deep learning technology for better picture quality The company is also working to develop a new TV for those who want a larger picture. There is also a huge 98-inch model for those who want a bigger picture. [The new a8 AI processor for LG QNED TVs is rated to improve AI performance by 1.3x, graphics performance by 2.3x, and processing speed by 1.6x.

So what do these fancy numbers mean: according to LG's press release, LG's AI Picture Pro utilizes deep learning to differentiate between faces, objects, and backgrounds in a scene, enriching textures and fine details.

Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro, on the other hand, splits the image into blocks and analyzes them in real time to improve detail through "precise HDR optimization" for three-dimensional picture quality.

The Personalized Picture Wizard allows users to customize picture quality using AI. Instead of choosing from a static preset name, you choose your favorite image from the choices given and fine-tune it.

The buzzword AI also extends to AI Sound Pro. Its purpose is to deliver virtual 9.1.2 surround sound from the TV's built-in speakers.

Other highlights of the new LG QNED TV lineup include enhanced color reproduction and Precision Dimming technology on the QNED Mini LED models. In addition, the QNED90 models feature the Million Gray Scale, which distinguishes shades of gray with 20-bit precision and improved contrast.

Last but not least, LG's webOS smart TV platform allows users to create their own profiles. The new QNED TV can differentiate audio based on profiles and provide personalized recommendations. In addition to supporting both AirPlay and Chromecast, users will also get a sleeker home UI that allows easier access to services.

In addition to the 98-inch, LG's QNED is also available in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 86-inch models. Pricing is yet to be determined, but we will see these sets in person at CES 2024 and give you our impressions of how well this AI technology works.
