Most of what we wanted to know about the Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus was revealed in a massive spec leak from Germany's WinFuture (opens in new tab)
The amount of detail is quite impressive and gives us a lot to ponder about the new phones You can see it all condensed in the specs table below
First, as can be seen in the image above, the new design is presumably from Samsung's press assets for the launch; the two phones leaf out of the Galaxy S22 Ultra's book and ditch the camera block for individual lenses protruding from the rear glass
These phones measure 1463 x 709 x 76 mm (575x279x029 inches) for the Galaxy S23 and 1578 x 762 x 76 mm (62x30x029 inches) for the Galaxy S23 Plus They weigh 167 g (58 oz) and 195 g (68 oz), respectively
The displays appear to be almost identical to the previous generation Depending on the model, the 61" or 66" displays feature 48-120 Hz adaptive refresh rates, FHD resolution, and HDR10+ The newly added Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is the latest and toughest screen material and should further reduce the risk of scratches and cracks [Regarding cameras, both models feature a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP 3x zoom telephoto camera that can shoot video at 30fps in 8K and 60fps in 4K Meanwhile, a 12MP selfie camera is located in a punch hole in the center of the display and can shoot 4K/60fps video
Both of the new Galaxy S23 phones in this leak appear to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, including Europe, which usually gets Exynos-powered silicon In addition to this chip, the S23 will have 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage on the S23 and 256GB or 512GB on the Plus
As for the battery, according to these specs, the Galaxy S23 will use a 3,900 mAh cell, while the S23 Plus will have a 4,700 mAh battery instead Both are slightly larger than those found in the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus
Charging is the same as before, with 25W fast wired charging for the Galaxy S23, 45W wired charging for the Plus (although neither is expected to ship with a charging brick like previous Samsung flagship phones), and 10W wireless charging for both
Users interested in what color the Galaxy S23 will be will be happy to see that WinFuture's leaks include the same colors as previous ones The existing leaks have given these Samsung's more evocative official names, but they will be black, cotton, green, and purple
Other notable features from WinFuture's Galaxy S23 spec sheet include an ultrasonic fingerprint reader back under the display, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, IP68 water/dust resistance, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 53 connectivity, Ultra Wideband support (probably only on Plus models), and the Android 13-based One UI 51 OS
The only thing missing from these specs is price The latest we have heard from other leaks is that the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will not be any more expensive than last year, starting at $800 and $1,000 respectively
Also, the leaked information does not include specs for the Galaxy S23 Ultra; thanks to the rumored 200MP main camera, we may already know what the centerpiece features will be, but we still want to know more
All the secrets of the Galaxy S23 series should be revealed on February 1, the date of the next Galaxy Unpacked event But we will keep looking for rumors and leaks in the meantime so that we know exactly when Samsung will unveil the new devices
