Editor's Note: For our firsthand impressions of Samsung's latest 2-in-1, check out our Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 hands-on review, and for our report on Samsung's most powerful Galaxy Book, Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Check out our Ultra Hands-on Review
The new Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 2-in-1 was unveiled today along with a new generation of Galaxy Books that are thinner, lighter, and more powerful than their predecessors
The new Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 closely resembles last year's Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 and the original Galaxy Book Pro 360, each of which served as the company's flagship 2-in-1 laptop In fact, both models were on the list of the best 2-in-1 laptops available for purchase at the time, and we have high hopes for the latest model
Samsung fans in the market for a new laptop this year have more options than ever with the addition of the new Galaxy Book 3 Ultra to the lineup the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra features the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series disc The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra features more power, including an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series discrete GPU With such graphics performance, the Ultra is clearly targeted at performance-oriented laptop buyers who like things like gaming and video editing, while the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 is targeted at professionals who are on the go
With that in mind, here is what we know so far about the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360
Samsung's Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 can be ordered from Samsung's website (opens in new tab) starting at $1,399 and comes in two colors: beige and graphite Samsung offers trade-ins and deals on Galaxy Book accessories and other Samsung devices
You can also order a model with 5G connectivity in select markets, a first for the Galaxy Book Pro 360 line
The Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 measures 14 x 99 x 05 inches and weighs 37 pounds, making it slightly larger and about half a pound heavier than the previous model
That's because unlike the 2022 Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360, which came in 13- and 15-inch versions, the new Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 has only a 16-inch touch screen This means more screen real estate and a little more weight when carrying the laptop on the go And of course, since the Book3 Pro 360 is convertible, the display can be rotated around to lay flat on the bottom of the laptop, turning it into an unwieldy tablet
Although not apparent from the outside, the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 has another important new feature that affects weight: 5G connectivity For an additional cost (and about half a pound more weight), the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 can be configured with 5G wireless
Samsung's new Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 has more ports than the previous model This year's model has two Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports, one USB-A port, an HDMI 14 port, a microSD card reader, and a 35mm audio jack; if you buy the model with 5G, you also have to worry about a nano-SIM slot
This is a solid array of ports, and it is nice to see Samsung include a USB-A port and an HDMI port
Like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 is configurable with the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs This means that it can be equipped with the latest 13th generation Intel Raptor Lake laptop chips that offer top-class performance This alone should ensure that this laptop can handle day-to-day tasks without problems, but graphics-demanding games and applications will struggle without the availability of a discrete GPU
Unlike its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 can be equipped with 8 to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM This is better than the up to 16GB of RAM that the Book2 Pro 360 offered, and a fully equipped Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 should be a speedy multitasking monster
Of course, we won't know how much faster the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 is than the previous model and how well it performs compared to the best laptops on the market until we try it out
Samsung has included a 1080p webcam on the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360, just like last year's model
We were pleased with the quality of images captured by the 1080p webcam on Samsung's previous Galaxy Book laptops, but were not particularly impressed Many of us spend hours each week on video calls with friends and colleagues, so hopefully the company has made some improvements this time around
Last year's Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 lasted approximately 12 hours in Tom's Guide battery tests This test involved surfing the web endlessly over Wi-Fi (with the screen set to a specific brightness) until the laptop ran out This is not as long as the original Galaxy Book Pro 360, which lasted 135 hours in the same test
We're told that Intel has improved power efficiency with its latest laptop CPUs, so expect the new Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 to last much longer than its predecessor's 12 hours
The Galaxy Book 360 line is a long-time favorite of ours here at Tom's Guide, thanks to its winning combo of affordability, performance, and portability The fact that these laptops come with a free stylus and have gorgeous AMOLED displays is just icing on the cake, and professionals and creatives who want a laptop to jot down notes, doodle, and get work done on the go It is a great ultra-portable for professionals and creatives who want a laptop to jot down notes, doodle, or get work done on the go
After our hands-on with the new Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, we have high hopes for the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 Stay tuned
