Surface Pro9 and Surface Laptop 5 specifications are leaked just before the Microsoft Surface event

With just days to go until Microsoft's Surface event on October 12, last-minute leaks have hinted at an Intel Alder Lake-U series processor for the Surface series laptops The company is expected to unveil the new Surface Pro 9, Surface Laptop 5, and possibly the new Surface Studio 3 desktop at this week's event

According to a series of leaks tweeted by blogger Aggioronamenti Lumia (opens in new tab), the 135- and 15-inch Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 will all feature Intel Alder Lake-U series processors This means that it is unlikely that the laptops will be equipped with AMD Ryzen APUs For comparison, the Surface Laptop 4 has both AMD and Intel variants

Microsoft's new system could rank on our best laptops list But let's take a closer look at the specs

According to this leak, the Surface Laptop 5 135-inch, 15-inch, and Surface Pro 9 will use identical Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U processors, part of the Intel Alder Lake-U series The rumored spec list also mentions 8GB or 16GB of RAM for the consumer models of the Surface laptop

The laptop's display resolution will be the same as the previous model: the Surface Laptop 5 will reportedly have a 2496 x 1664 resolution, similar to the Surface 4, and the Surface Pro 9 could have a 2880 x 1920 display, similar to the Surface Pro 8 It is not clear if the Surface Laptop 5 will be upgraded to a 120Hz panel

We also obtained a leaked image of the Surface Laptop 5 Although a bit blurry and not a perfect photo, the design looks very similar to the Laptop 4, and it does not appear that Microsoft has reduced the size of the bezel

The blogger also mentions that the Surface Pro 9 series will be available in Black, Forest, Graphite, Platinum, and Sapphire, while the Surface Pro 5 will come in Platinum and Black

Initial rumors pointed to the possibility of a Surface Pro 9 5G with a Qualcomm SoC (possibly branded Microsoft SQ3) If true, this could mean that Microsoft is transitioning its Surface lineup away from AMD Ryzen processors

In our Surface Laptop 4 review, we thought it was one of the best Windows laptops, and we can't wait to see what Laptop 5 brings Microsoft hasn't let a peep out about the upcoming product, and we are only relying on a few rumors as to what we should expect when it launches

We'll have all the details of Microsoft's grand unveiling live on October 12

Next up, the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 - the upgrade I hope to see
