The IKEA Trotten desk, like many of IKEA's other furniture, is characterized by clean lines and simplicity There are no cutouts or holes in the table's surface to run wires, so cable routing may be a problem if you have a lot of peripherals

There are few customizable parts, with only two colors for the top and two colors for the legs Other standing desks offer dozens of finishes and materials to choose from, so you can create your own desk to match your home office setup

Unlike the other standing desks we tested, the Trotten is not weight-bearing Unless you sleep on the desk, you probably don't need to worry about this too much

Although it has no motorized components, the IKEA Trotten took as long to assemble as other motorized standing desks such as the Uplift V2 and the Full Jarvis Bamboo This is because, as with the other two desks, not only do the legs and feet need to be attached, but also the brackets need to be attached to the underside of the desktop Although more expensive, the Vari Desk is much easier to assemble

The instructions were easy to follow; in typical IKEA fashion, pictograms are used in the instructions and text is kept to a minimum to appeal to as wide an audience as possible The necessary hexagonal wrench is included, but you will need to provide your own Phillips screwdriver

Unlike motorized standing desks, the IKEA Trotten requires the user to manually turn a crank to raise or lower the height of the desk This mechanism is smooth and stable, but requires quite a few turns to move it significantly When the crank is not in use, it can be stored neatly under the desk

Despite its light weight, the Trotten is stable However, at maximum height, it wobbles a bit more than other heavier standing desks
