Wordle obsessed. And you're not alone. Millions of people play this simple but addictive word game every day and share their results with friends via social media.

But not everyone can play every day. They might be too busy to play a 10-minute game, or they might be in an offline location for 24 hours or more. Or they may just forget.

In any case, once you have missed a day of play, you will not be able to play again unless you go through the Wardle archive.

So what if you miss a game and out of curiosity want to see today's Wordle answer? Don't worry. We at Tom's Guide are Wordle addicts, so we will update this article daily with the correct answers. However, there are spoilers waiting for you in game #254, so please only read this if you want to know the answer to today's Wordle. Also, please do not take a peek beforehand and try to beat your friends without getting serious.

Now, what is the answer to today's Wordle?

Remember those who claimed after the NYT bought Wordle that Wordle was getting too hard, followed by CHANT and SPILL, followed by three very obvious words?

According to Word and Phrase Info, CHOKE is the 5,278th most commonly used word in English.

Just to be sure, here is also Merriam-Webster's definition (note that this is just a small sample of the many definitions):

The last one is one most people have experienced when playing Wordle. With two or three letters left, everything starts to blur: ...... Or maybe that's just me.

But today I wasn't - I managed it at 3/6 and a quick look on Twitter tells me that most players are about the same as the score. Of course, there were a few 4/6s and 5/6s, but these were fairly simple wardles with fairly high average scores, and I saw a few 2/6s as well.

Again, I was helped by using one of Wordle's best starting words, in my case the trusty STARE. This resulted in only one correct answer, but eliminated the other four most common letters and the first four letters most often used to start words (ST, SH, CR, SP). With these four letters gone, I turned once again to the fifth most commonly used starting pair, CH.

Now I did not think my second guess was correct. Purely because yesterday's answer, CHANT, had the same beginning. But I wanted to use it anyway because C and H are common letters and there was a chance to use D in the second half of the word.

Well, it turns out that I needn't have worried: with all three letters in place, there was only one option (unless I missed something), and that was CHOKE.

I'm glad I got 3/6, but I'd be quite happy if tomorrow's Wordle was a bit more difficult; I'm beginning to think the NYT is making Wordle too easy and ruining it. Can't please some people.

Wordle was launched in October 2021, but its popularity grew toward the end of the year, and by January it was all the rage as the whole world woke up to its appeal. In fact, it was so successful that the New York Times acquired Wordle in early February for a seven-figure sum, and the game is now part of NYT Games.

The game is free to play from the NYT Games website, and both the NYT and the game's creator, Josh Wardle, have stated that it will remain free.Some believe that since the NYT acquisition, Wordle has become difficult, but this is not the case.

Wordle is a simple game where you have to guess a five-letter word six times. Each guess shows which letter is in the word you chose and if it is in the correct position.

If the letter is in the correct place, it turns green. If it is in the word but in the wrong place, it turns yellow. If it is not in the word, it turns gray.

There will be only one puzzle per day, and everyone will complete the same one.
