Google's Pixel 5a rendering just leaked - here's your first look

Google Pixel 5a specs have been released in a large number of new leaks, but you may be a little disappointed

The new budget Pixel appears to be almost identical to the Google Pixel 4a 5G released last year At least according to the details and renderings revealed by Steve "Onleaks" Hemmerstoffer on his Voice page

From the front, there is a 62-inch FHD display and a punch-hole selfie camera in the upper left corner According to Hemmerstoffer, this is exactly the same as the Pixel 4a 5G, right down to the bezel

The Pixel 5a has a plastic back, as the Pixel a series has used since the beginning It measures 61 x 29 x 03 inches (1562 x 732 x 88 mm) Therefore, the Pixel 5a is slightly larger in all directions than the Pixel 4a 5G, but the difference will not be noticeable

On the back, in a square camera bump, there are two rear cameras, main and ultra-wide, and an auxiliary sensor that Hemmerstoffer believes is a PDAF autofocus module

For the uninitiated, the phase detection module uses two or more small photo sensors to check if the light information from the edge of the camera lens is identical If they are identical, the image is in focus If not, the PDAF system can instruct the camera to re-focus on the subject until it finds the proper level

This is a clever feature, but one that is already present in the rear camera of the Pixel 4a 5G, which coincidentally is the same rear camera of the Google Pixel 5 Given the Pixel 5's impressive photography, this is not a bad thing

According to leaks, the Pixel 5a will also feature a rear fingerprint sensor, a 35mm headphone jack, and stereo speakers And, as you might imagine, these are all features that are also on the Pixel 4a 5G

While these specs are lackluster in terms of fresh design and features, there could be changes to specs not listed here; notable in Hemmerstoffer's leak are the chipset and camera sensor resolution

The Pixel 4a will retail for $349, $150 less than the $499 Pixel 4a 5G Assuming Google wants to keep the price of the Pixel 5a roughly the same as the 4a, it may have a less capable chipset and the same camera as before

Knowing more about the Google Pixel 6 may reveal why Google made a phone that is nearly identical to last year's Interesting what we have heard so far

Google will reportedly offer an XL version of the Pixel 6, which it skipped with the Pixel 5; the Pixel 6 may also bring back the face recognition unlock feature that was included in the Google Pixel 4 but subsequently discontinued

We will have to wait for more leaks to see what the Pixel 5a is like and whether it can succeed the Pixel 4a to become a top pick on our best budget phones list
