Ratchet and Crank is free on PS4 and PS5: Grab You Now

PS5 and PS4 users can now download new games thanks to PlayStation's "Play At Home" initiative. Ratchet & Clank can be downloaded for free even if you are not a PS Plus member.

The Play at Home initiative is a way to keep gamers entertained during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ratchet & Clank, released in 2016, will also serve as a preview for the PS5 sequel, Rift Apart, which will be released this June. But hurry, because the free digital copy on the PlayStation Store will be available until March 31 at 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. EST.

Ratchet & Clank is an action platformer video game franchise. The series was created and developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind such well-known titles as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spyro.

The game takes place in a comic book-like science fiction world where the main characters, a feline mechanic named Ratchet and a robot named Clank, team up to fight enemies using a variety of imaginative high-tech gadgets.

The game was released on PS4 in 2016 as a remake of the original 2002 PlayStation 2 game.

Ratchet & Clank was previously listed on the PlayStation Plus collection list as one of the PS4 classics made available to PS5 owners at the launch of the new console. This time, however, it is not necessary to be a PS Plus subscriber.

Anime fans can also take part in another promotion later this month: new subscribers to Funimation on March 25 will have their access extended. How much has not yet been detailed.

Last year's "Play at Home" initiative included "Uncharted - The Nathan Drake Collection" and "Journey: The Nathan Drake Collection" and "Journey". The former allowed visitors to play the first three "Uncharted" games, while the latter was a short but moving game about human connection. Both felt appropriate during the heat of the lockdown.

Sony plans to offer the games for free on a monthly basis to all PS4 and PS5 owners through June 2021.
