Earlier this year, it was announced that the upcoming survival horror game "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil: The Village" will feature a multiplayer mode called Re:Verse. Today, Capcom announced details on when this mode will be available ahead of the game's release.

On April 8, the open beta for Re: Re:Verse will begin on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. As of now, the beta is scheduled to run through April 11, allowing for a full weekend of multiplayer fun.

The open beta is a great opportunity for gamers to try out the latest Resident Evil multiplayer mode, Re:Verse, which pits fan-favorite Resident Evil heroes and villains in competitive death matches, currently scheduled for release on May 7. It is bundled with Resident Evil: The Village.

Resident Evil Re: Verse Open Beta

Access to the beta is very easy. Since it is an open beta, there is no pre-order-only key or pre-sign-up required, and access is completely free.

The beta is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam). Resident Evil 8 will be available natively on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, but there is no next-gen-specific beta.

Resifans who have upgraded to the latest consoles can also participate; the PS4 beta is also playable on PS5 through backwards compatibility, and the Xbox One version is likewise playable on the Xbox Series X.

The beta client will be available on April 5 at 8:00 pm ET The beta client will be available for download from the digital stores of each platform on April 5 at 8 p.m. ET. The beta will run from April 8 at 2:00 a.m. ET through April 11 at 2:00 a.m. ET.

A valid Capcom ID is required to play and must be linked to a console or Steam profile. Go to the Capcom website, log in (or set up) your account, and then follow the instructions in the "External Account Links" section of your account page.

If you participated in the closed Re:Verse beta earlier this year, the process is even easier. Simply download a small update to the beta client and you're ready to play.

Resident Evil Re:Verse is the multiplayer component of the eighth installment of the popular Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: The Village.

This standalone online mode gives players the chance to play as various famous "Resident Evil" characters, including Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Claire Redfield.

If defeated, players can return to battle as iconic Resident Evil villains such as Jack Baker, Nemesis, or the imposing Mr. X to exact revenge on the player who defeated them.

While this mode looks chaotic and fun, the art style has received mixed reactions from fans of the franchise. Thanks to this open beta, we're eager to play it ourselves ahead of its release.

This isn't the first time Resident Evil has dipped its toe into multiplayer. Last year's Resident Evil 3 included an online mode called "Resistance," but unfortunately it didn't garner much traction and is completely dead at this point; hopefully RE:Verse won't suffer the same fate.
