Super Mario 3D All Star is 5 50 at Walmart — this is the last day you can buy it

Nintendo has confirmed that today (March 31) is the last day you can purchase Super Mario 3D All-Stars on Nintendo Switch.

So if you've been eyeing this collection of classic Mario platformers, you need to pull the trigger now. The good news is that the Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario 3D All-Stars is $50 at Walmart. That's $10 off the usual $60, not a bad price for an item that will surely increase in value in the near future.

In case you missed it, Nintendo announced last year that it would sell a limited number of Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Starting tomorrow (April 1), the digital version will no longer be available on the Nintendo eShop, and physical production will cease.

We had assumed that any remaining inventory past the end of the month could be sold out at the store, but according to VGC, Nintendo is even planning to pull physical stock from its Tokyo store. The video game giant could make similar moves around the world, making the game essentially impossible to acquire outside of the resale market.

It's a shame that Nintendo is making this frankly rather puzzling move, as this collection is a great way to revisit some of the best 3D platform games ever made. The collection includes Switch ports of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, with updated visuals and adjusted controls for the handheld/home console hybrid.

If you've never played any of these games, or if you're just looking for a dose of childhood nostalgia, I'd recommend Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Mario Galaxy alone is worth the price of admission.

With its retail run rapidly coming to an end, we recommend taking advantage of this great deal before it becomes a collector's item in a few months and you have to pay double the price.

Hopefully the limited-time nature of Super Mario 3D All-Star will not become a regular trend for Nintendo games in the future, but given that the company never follows the herd, it would not surprise me if they do something similarly unusual with future releases.
