Musician will.i.am has partnered with Honeywell to develop a high-end face mask to combat Covid-19. This mask is packed with technology.

Combining plastic, fabric, and a rubber band, the Xupermask is completely over-the-top; it has a HEPA air filtration system, noise-canceling headphones, and Bluetooth connectivity; it does not have an RGB array like Razer's Project Hazel, but it even has LED The Xupermask will be available on April 8 for $299.

According to the press release, the goal of the Xupermask is to meet face mask guidelines without compromising style. The actual design was done by Jose Fernandez, the famous Hollywood costume designer who worked on "Black Panther," "The Avengers," and "X-Men 2" and who also designed Elon Musk's Space X suit.

"We created Xupermask to change the game of the new normal. In a new era of style and security, the Xupermask is a no-compromise facemask design with high-tech performance for the modern lifestyle," William "Will I Am" Adams said in a press release.

"Together with Honeywell, we've designed a state-of-the-art smart mask that delivers stylish functionality.

Inside the Xupermask is a silicone face seal held in place by an elastic strap. Apparently, the design of the Xupermask fits a variety of face shapes and can be worn all year round. It also has dual 3-speed fans with HEPA filters for "enhanced ventilation."

Noise-canceling earbuds can drown out city noise, but there is also a built-in microphone to let sound in when needed. The mask has a battery life of seven hours. The press release does not mention whether this 7 hours was tested at full load with all fans on and Bluetooth earphones enabled.

The Xupermask can be purchased through their official website. The mask will come in a series of Supreme-like drops, with the first drop taking place on April 8. It will be available in two sizes, S-M and M-L. There will also be two color options: white/gray/orange and black/black/orange.

Although some states have lifted the mask requirement, the Covid-19 pandemic is not yet over. Even as the number of people receiving vaccinations continues to increase, masks will remain the norm for some time to come.

"SARS happened in Japan and Southeast Asia, and they got over it and still wear masks," Will.i.am said in an interview with The New York Times. If so, both will.i.am and Razer are on the cutting edge of a new fashion trend.
