Samsung just announced the first 8K LED TV with this big upgrade

Samsung's latest 8K TVs offer more than just big screens and stunningly high resolution The latest wireless standard, Wi-Fi 6E, provides the best connectivity of any TV on the market

This new feature will be available on the Samsung QN900A and QN800A Neo QLED 8K Smart TVs, which are currently available for pre-order, and may be available on other models coming later this year, like the Samsung QN700A 8K model

According to announcements from both Samsung and chipmaker MediaTek, 8K TVs in Samsung's 2021 TV lineup will use the 5GHz and 24GHz already used by standard Wi-Fi 5 (formerly known as 80211ac) and Wi-Fi 6 connections bands, plus an additional 6 GHz frequency As a result, TVs will have multi-gigabit data throughput that is up to four times faster than Wi-Fi 5 (largely thanks to the completely uncongested 6GHz band) [The 12 Gbps speed of the MediaTek MT7921AU chip is exactly what supports the high data connections needed for 8K streaming, which must handle not only high-resolution images, but also multi-channel sound, HDR metadata, and other media devices such as game consoles It must support

The new Samsung TV's MediaTek hardware also features Bluetooth 52 connectivity, allowing users to wirelessly connect to everything from headphones and speakers to keyboards and other smart TV accessories

The move to Wi-Fi 6E may be a step or two ahead of others in the industry, but given that Samsung used a similar MediaTek chip to deliver Wi-Fi 6 in its flagship Q900 and Q950 8K QLED TVs last year, it is not a big surprise The Q900 and Q950 8K QLED TVs are not

This is because streaming technology for high-resolution is still under development, and streaming services (and almost all media formats) do not yet offer much 8K content

The development of the new Wi-Fi 6E is a welcome change, but we still encourage shoppers to stick with 4K for now (For a more in-depth discussion of this topic, check out our article Should I Buy an 8K TV in 2021?) While 8K TVs look impressive, the lack of 8K media and the fairly high price of 8K TVs means that, for now, in terms of content, the best TV You are going to be spending a lot for a TV that doesn't offer more than any 4K set on the list This will change in the next few years as companies like Samsung lead the way in 8K innovation
