PS5 and PS4™ users can download Horizon Zero Dawn for free thanks to Sony's "Play At Home" campaign PlayStation owners can download Horizon Zero Dawn for free today through May 14 at 8 p.m. ET (11 p.m. PT), to obtain a free digital copy of the game.

Sony's promotion includes the complete edition, which includes the base game and all additional content. It also includes the Frozen Wilds expansion content, digital art book, PS4 dynamic theme, bonus weapons, costumes, and resources You don't need to sign up for a PS Plus membership, download the game once and it's yours forever.

If you need a refresher, Horizon Zero Dawn is an open-world action RPG, originally released in 2017 as a PS4 exclusive. The game was developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Horizon Zero Dawn follows Aloy, a skilled hunter, on an adventure to uncover the secrets of a forgotten land in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by machines. He will "search every nook and cranny of a realm filled with ancient relics and buildings" and will face "larger and more technologically advanced" enemies on his journey to explore the new world.

And the excitement doesn't stop there. The developer plans to release the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, "sometime this year." So there's plenty of time to play the original before diving into the new one.

This isn't the first time Sony has offered some of its best gaming hits for free; the Play At Home initiative was reintroduced last month as a way to get PlayStation gamers in the mood during the COVID-19 craze. Sony plans to run the initiative monthly through June 2021. Last month, the company offered a free copy of Ratchet & Clank as part of the promotion.
