Call of Duty: Warzone Verdansk Map gets nuked today — Everything you need to know

The Verdansk map is getting a facelift today with a major update to the Call of Duty Warzone. Players have been waiting for the nuke event for a little while now, and the map will be getting an update in the 80's. Activision announced last week the demise of Verdansk as we know it, and the time has finally come.

The map refresh is part of the Season 3 Warzone update that will be released today, April 21 at 9pm PT (12am BST / 5am BST on April 22). This update is approximately 25 GB in size and follows the Black Ops Cold War update that was released yesterday.

The roasting of Verdansk was teased in Call of Duty's latest blog post, where the zombie-infested map is "too dangerous for even Tier 1 operators to survive."

The post continues: "Is a major firestorm imminent? We don't know the answer yet, but we suggest you clear your schedule this week and prepare for the havoc within the warzone, and be ready to participate in Operation Rapid Thunder on Wednesday, April 21 and beyond.

"Truce Central Command will contact all operators directly with further instructions beginning at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time on April 21.

In short, we are all set to see the end of Verdansk as we know it from the Season 3 live event.

Missile silos scattered around the map are expected to launch nukes and wipe out the zombies. Gameplay already filmed by several players shows the nukes being fired, although there was no explosion upon impact. This was not a legitimate warning and was most likely a mistake by the development team.

Call of Duty players got plenty to look forward to besides Verdansk being incinerated. The limited-time "Hunt for Adler" event offers in-game challenges for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. Completing the information challenges will earn rewards such as weapon charms, calling cards, new operator skins, and more.

Three new operators are available: the Alpine Warfare Specialist-turned-Perseus Agent is available in Tier 0 of the Season 3 Battle Pass. Knight and Antonov are available in the new Season 3 Store Bundle. The legendary Captain Price will also be available in Cold War for players who own or have purchased any version of Black Ops Cold War at the start of the season.

If you're itching for a new weapon, the update brings six new weapons. Ballistic knives and baseball bats will appear along with the PPSh-41 SMG, Swiss K31 sniper rifle, CARV.2 tactical rifle, and AMP63 pistol.

These debuts coincide with the return of the popular Sticks and Stones multiplayer mode, which places players with only the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow, Ballistic Knife, and Tomahawk.

Black Ops Cold War will also add four new multiplayer maps: Yamantau (6v6) and Diesel (6v6/2v2/3v3) will be available starting launch week; Standoff (6v6) and Duga (multi-team) will appear later in the season.

Another thing worth mentioning is the new prestige levels, which will total 15 after the update. All the details can be found on our blog, but what we are most looking forward to is the live nook event, where we will be able to see the new prestige levels and see how they will be used.
