Xbox Series X gives another batch of games a huge FPS boost - sorry PS5

Thirteen new games from publisher Electronic Arts have been added to the "Xbox FPS Boost" program. This will increase game performance on the Xbox Series X to 120 frames per second for all but one title.

Among the games receiving this upgrade on the Xbox Series X are Battlefield 5, Star Wars: Battlefront II, and Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. The list consists primarily of shooters, but also includes the first-person parkour game "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" and the co-op platformer "Unravel 2."

Xbox FPS Boost was first rolled out in February of this year. It is a program that takes backward compatible titles and boosts their frame rates without the original developer having to do anything. The service started with five (reasonably lackluster) games, but has been steadily growing ever since.

Last month, Bethesda games such as Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim were added to the FPS Boost lineup. With the addition of 13 new EA games, the program now supports a total of 23 titles.

The full list of EA games being added to the service is as follows:

All jump to 120fps, except for "Sea of Solitude," whose frame rate will jump to 60fps.

It is worth noting that five games ("Battlefield 1" and "Battlefield V," "Battlefront II," "Titanfall," and "Mirror's Edge Catalyst") will not support this FPS boost on the Xbox Series S.

The best part of this update is that none of the 13 added games are currently available on EA Play, which is included as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. In other words, if you subscribe to Xbox's game delivery service, you already have unlimited access to all of these titles.

A full list of the approximately 20 titles included in the FPS Boost lineup can be found on Major Nelson's website.
