Xbox Series X replenishment issues can last up to 6 months

If you don't have your Xbox Series X in hand yet, you may have to wait a while longer to get your console. Microsoft has confirmed that the restocking issues associated with its newest system will continue to exist for the foreseeable future.

Specifically, Microsoft's CFO, Amy Hood, mentioned during the company's Q3 earnings call this week that the systems are having difficulty restocking. And from the sounds of it, there will be an overall shortage of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S until at least June.

This is the same Microsoft executive who predicted in a February 2021 interview with VGC that "significant demand" for both consoles would continue to be "constrained by supply."

This is also, at least in part, a direct result of supply shortages at chipmaker AMD, which is responsible for custom hardware for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S and has said in the past that these problems would continue to occur for at least some time to come.

Fortunately, Microsoft is still stable with respect to sales, posting decent numbers despite low inventory and difficulties for customers to procure systems. The Xbox Game Pass subscription service, which allows users to download and play a variety of titles for a fixed monthly fee, has been an exceptional draw for users. Later this year, more Xbox titles will be released that will catch the eye of potential buyers, such as "Halo Infinite."

In fact, Microsoft had attracted about 18 million subscribers around February 2021. Many of those same users are likely considering upgrading their equipment.

For now, one must remain vigilant as it will be some time before the Xbox Series X is available. You may be able to get one at an unexpected time, especially if you keep an eye out for Xbox restocking information.
