Nvidia GeForce RTX3080Ti leak just revealed the price, release date and anti-scalper measures

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is currently said to be released next month, but a new leak suggests that it will have mining measures in place to make it more affordable and will be priced closer to MSRP.

This is according to an ITHome report pointed out by our colleagues at Tom's Hardware, which claims that Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3080 supercharger will be available sometime in May, priced at $1,099. [At this price, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will sit between the RTX 3080 and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090.

Leaked information so far suggests that it will feature an Ampere-based GA102 GPU with 10,240 CUDA compared to the RTX 3080's 8,704 cores. The 12GB of GDDR6X video memory supporting these cores is expected to be controlled by a 384-bit memory interface. In short, and not technically, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will be a powerful graphics card that will appeal to those seeking more performance in high-end 4K gaming than the mighty RTX 3080 can manage. [Consider running demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077. But the big hurdle for any new graphics card is meeting the enormous demand during the severe semiconductor shortage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic: the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 and countless others from AMD as well as Team Green. We saw this when we tried to Google where to buy a graphics card.

However, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is said to have built-in anti-mining measures to prevent it from appealing to cryptocurrency miners. Currently, miners use parallel processing on graphics cards to mine digital money. We have seen Nvidia use a similar strategy with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, but that did not stop it from being cracked by cryptocurrency miners who managed to easily circumvent the limiter.

Hopefully, Nvidia will strengthen its defenses against the miners with the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. However, it won't be an easy purchase, as many people still can't get their hands on the RTX 3080 six months after its release.

We will have to wait and see if that prediction comes true next month. However, we suspect that, like the PS5 and Xbox Series X, this new graphics card will be difficult to purchase for the rest of the year.
