Target has just announced a huge change to the Xbox Series X re—stock- here's how

Target is reportedly changing the way it handles restocking of the Xbox Series X. According to Xbox Twitter tracker Wario64, the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S will be available for purchase as soon as they are in stock.

Previously, the Xbox Series X and Series S were available at Target in bulk through sporadic restocking events. Retailers would wait for inventory to arrive in stores nationwide and then begin selling them. However, this change should make the consoles more readily available. Since the consoles are not available in stores, customers must complete their transactions online. (Target's policy change only applies to Microsoft game consoles; PS5 restocks are not affected at this time.)

Rumors of Target's policy change come from a leaked memo to @Wario64. The leaked memo notifies that "Target employees can now purchase Xbox Series S/X consoles online starting May 18 and pick them up in stores as soon as they are in stock."

The alleged memo also emphasizes that Target will continue to keep Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 consoles off the sales floor. Instead, Target will keep them under camera surveillance in the store's electronics stockroom.

Bad news for PS5 fans, however. Those eager to get their hands on the new PlayStation 5 will have to keep looking for waves of inventory that will become available through limited-time events on specific dates.

To make sure you can get your hands on the Xbox Series X and Series S as soon as they become available, you'll need to set up a Target account. Enter your address and payment information in advance and save it in advance. This will allow you to check out as soon as possible and maximize your chances of getting the console.

At this time, Target only offers Xbox Series X/S consoles via contactless drive-up or order pickup, so you will need to order online and then visit your local store. Due to a shortage of product, we are currently limited to one console per customer.
