PS5 can have an exclusive Final Fantasy game in the works

A new rumor has surfaced that an all-new title is in the works that "Final Fantasy" fans are sure to love.

According to Wccftech, French informant Souls Hunt leaked details of the game, which is being developed by Team Ninja and will be revealed at E3 2021 next month. According to the leaker's tweet and a YouTube video, the title will be released in addition to Final Fantasy 16, which is considered a PS5 exclusive.

The Souls Hunts information seems to have been corroborated by ResetEra's fellow leaker Navtra. Both have said that the Final Fantasy title will be inspired by the Dark Souls series, which sets it apart from the usual FF offerings. However, this is not Team Ninja's first attempt at a "Souls"-like genre, having already released "Nioh" and its sequel.

But don't expect a Souls clone: Souls Hunt compares the new FF to Star Wars Jedi: Souls Hunt compares the new FF to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order; Navtra has more Informed: "It's tricky. It's certainly inspired by Souls, but it's not what you might imagine when you hear "FF like Souls." This is good news for "Final Fantasy" fans who aren't looking forward to the brutal, unrelenting action that From Software games are known for.

According to Souls Hunt, the release will be preceded by a playable demo similar to that of "Nioh" or a beta of some sort; both "Nioh" and "Nioh 2" had alpha and beta demos for final tweaking before release; Team Ninja is expected to go the same route with this mysterious final fantasy title.

It's hard to say whether the biggest surprise is the shift in genre focus or the reported arrival of another new PlayStation-exclusive Final Fantasy title, albeit this time timed.

The FF series used to be a PlayStation exclusive, but has since spread to other platforms. As such, Sony appears to have struck a deal to debut "Final Fantasy 16" and a new installment of this obscure series on its own consoles

before bringing it to other platforms such as the PC and Xbox Series X.
