See the action in Horizon Forbidden West in Sony's next play state

It's been almost a year since Sony announced "Horizon Forbidden West" for the PS5. Aside from a debut trailer, we haven't seen much of the game, but that will change by the end of this week. Sony's next State of Play will take place on Thursday, May 27, and Horizon Forbidden West will be its centerpiece.

The information comes from the official PlayStation Blog and explains what fans can expect to see this Thursday. First up, the State of Play live stream will take place on Thursday, May 27 at 5 p.m. ET (10 p.m. PT). Fans who want to watch the (very long) pre-show can tune in at 12 p.m. EST (5 p.m. GMT), where they can watch a "unique countdown" to the main event.

Sony promises 20 minutes of State of Play, 14 minutes of which will be gameplay filmed directly on the PS5. That means 6 minutes will be an intro and trailer video. That's really all there is to it. If you want to see about 15 minutes of Horizon Forbidden West gameplay, you can do so on the evening of May 27.

As for where you can watch it, like all State of Play live streams, Sony will host this live stream on both Twitch and YouTube. Bookmark either site now or return to Tom's Guide on Thursday. We will be live-blogging the State of Play.

For those of you not familiar with Horizon Forbidden West, it is the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, in which a hunting tribe named the Aloi have returned to a world far removed from the post-apocalypse, a lush environment and tribal They took on animaloid robots in a world that had returned to society. Fans appreciated the game's in-depth story, detailed open world, and satisfying character development.

The State of Play series, if you haven't seen it yet, is Sony's occasional live stream highlighting new PlayStation games and technology. Last time it was about "Ratchet & Clank: Subnautica: Below Zero" and "Among Us". Perhaps there will be one or two small announcements at the same time as the Horizon Forbidden West gameplay reveal.

Tom's Guide reviewed the 2017 debut of Horizon Zero Dawn, praising its intuitive gameplay, engrossing story, and tight controls. It also reminded readers when the game went free on PS4 and PS5 last month as part of Sony's Play At Home campaign. Now it's back to being paid, but it's not only available on PlayStation; it's also playable on PC, and a patch that was needed after its release has improved performance.
