iOS 15 is expected to arrive with the iPhone 13 this fall, but if Apple is lacking inspiration for new features, there's nothing worse than watching this new concept video released on YouTube by Nicholas Ghigo
In the video, Ghigo mock-ups many of the most requested iOS features, making the video look like it could end with a Tim Cook cliché on stage in Cupertino
The most frequently requested is a customizable look, and this concept has no shortage of options: in addition to icons that seem to have jumped straight out of macOS' Big Sur update, the concept is heavily involved with widgets, various health, smart home, Media toggles can be applied to any screen in Android style The lock screen also gets this treatment, with small, stylish icons under the time and date It's a powerful look
Taking Apple's privacy options further, Ghigo also imagines individual apps being locked, with a small padlock icon appearing above the sensitive icons It would certainly be reassuring to know that all email, iMessages, and WhatsApp accounts are securely locked behind a protective layer of Face ID
Support for multiple timers is among the concepts in iOS 15, as well as a "sleep mode" that turns the display into a giant clock when the iPhone is securely connected to a MagSafe wireless charger
The most attractive addition to this concept is a split-screen display for multitasking Back when Steve Jobs was at the helm and Apple was creating ads touting smaller screen sizes, such a feature would have been a waste of time, but with three of the four iPhone 12 devices currently available having screen sizes larger than 6 inches, it would certainly be welcome
The clip shows the ability to edit an email on one side of the screen and drag and drop attachments from the other
Of course, all of these changes are purely wishful thinking and there is no guarantee that they will be adopted by Apple in iOS 15, which will be released later this year Apple's annual WWDC 2021 is scheduled for June 7, so hopefully we will see the first look at the OS update soon If it is anything like this concept, we will be very happy indeed
