Fighting game fans rejoice with the release of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. Sega has completely overhauled the jewel in the series' crown for a new generation of gamers, revamping the graphics, music, features, UI, and online fighting capabilities.

Sega's 60th anniversary project gives the Virtua Fighter 5 game a long-awaited makeover, plus a new opening cinematic that adds a touch of glamour. The level's background music is all newly composed, and "the basic gameplay system of classic Virtua Fighter 5 has remained largely intact thanks to refinements over the years. But everything else is as new and shiny as you'd expect; PS Plus members can play for free for two months.

PlayStation Plus members have until August 2 to add this game to their library. Remember, if you're running out of space, you don't have to download all the games that are available for free each month. Just add them to your library when they become available for download and download them when you want to play them.

The PS4 and PS5 get two months of free gameplay, and if you're intrigued, check out the Legendary Pack DLC. This additional content pays homage to the Virtua Fighter series and includes over 2,000 customization items, alt character costumes, spectator stamps, and new and old background music.

But the most fun feature is the character models and UI from the original Virtua Fighter games. So if you want to kick some ass in an elaborate origami-like outfit, go ahead. Even the new, late-arriving characters get the boxy treatment, with two classic-style models for every character.

"Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown" is free for PS Plus members, and the DLC is $9.99/£7.99.
