Generally speaking, it's very easy to find a great deal on AirPods any day of the week. However, deals on Apple's premium AirPods Max are almost non-existent. But now that Amazon is gearing up for Prime Day, we're seeing some of the best early Prime Day discounts ever.

Amazon is currently offering the AirPods Max (all colors) for $519.99. That's $29 off and the lowest price we've seen this year.

This is the first time the AirPods Max will be available in 2021, but it is not the first time the price has been reduced. A few days before Christmas, TigerDirect reduced the price of the AirPods Max by $49. This was a very unusual and short-lived deal.

The AirPods Max come in fun color variations; the AirPods Max feature rotating ear cups covered in oval-shaped memory foam that provide a spongy seal around the ear.

In our review of the AirPods Max, we found that the Apple Buds offer excellent sound. The steady bass line of Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" sounded deep and the rapper could be heard enunciating his words clearly. Indeed, the Sony WH-1000XM4 is equally clear, but does not offer the same degree of clarity.

I was also impressed with Apple's Spatial Audio. This is essentially surround sound for headsets, supporting 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos video content. It uses built-in head tracking to make the sound relative to what is on the screen when watching video on an iPhone or iPad.

A few months into our review, we are still impressed with the active noise cancellation of these headphones. Yes, they are pricey, but they are the best headphones Apple has ever made.
