Ratchet & Crank: The Rift Apart is in 60fps ray tracing mode at startup

Players of "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" will be able to enjoy the visual delights of the game on its launch day, as long as they remember to download the day one patch.

Like "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" before it, the game has a performance mode and a performance RT mode, both available on day one; Insomniac teased the mode on Twitter, showing Rivette (a female Lombax) running along a certain in-game tier, and showed fans how she rails through the tiers.

"Players who update Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on launch day will have access to Performance & Performance RT mode. Enjoy 60fps gameplay with ray tracing enabled!" the studio tweeted.

Incidentally, when "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" was released, PS5 players could choose between 60fps Performance mode or enjoy ray tracing in Fidelity mode, although the frame rate would drop to 30fps. Insomniac later updated the PS5 version, giving players the option to enjoy 60 fps and ray tracing, called Performance RT mode.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is one of the PS5-exclusive titles following Returnal and is set to take full advantage of the new console's hardware, including the DualSense controller. The game launches this week, so if you'd like to learn more about this heroic duo before then, be sure to check out our Ratchet & Clank: An Introduction to Rift Apart by June 11.

If Ratchet & Clank is not your cup of tea, there are plenty of other major games coming to the PS5, and with E3 2021 just around the corner, you can expect to see the aforementioned games, plus many more coming to the PS5 soon.
