The entire Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series remains extremely hard to find, but its least expensive graphics cards may become easier to find in stock.

According to Chinese tech site IT Home, Nvidia is quietly planning to boost production in July to supply GeForce RTX 3060 inventory. This supply boost will initially be concentrated in the Internet cafe market, but is said to spread to general retailers as well.

While it is unlikely that Nvidia will be able to fully meet the demand for gaming GPUs, in theory, the supply boost will help to save the GeForce RTX 3060 the trouble of looking for restocks. This model, as well as cards like the GeForce RTX 3080 and the much newer GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, have been almost perpetually out of stock since their launch as supply shortages collide with a very active reseller market and a boom in demand from cryptocurrency miners.

Speaking of which, there may be further relief for hopeful PC owners as graphics card prices have plummeted in China following the Chinese government's crackdown on cryptocurrency mining farms. These large mining farms tend to buy up graphics cards in large quantities, causing scarcity and driving up prices, and with the forced closures, GeForce RTX 3060 models have dropped in price by as much as 45%.

This is clearly a China-only story, not a US or UK story, but it does indicate that GPU prices in the territory could drop significantly if the current interest in crypto mining wanes. Also, if Chinese megafarms are not buying and importing cards from foreign retailers, then it may be a little easier to get lucky with the restocking of the RTX 30 series. [If Nvidia can really improve graphics card production, that would be encouraging. We understand from both Nvidia and AMD that the lack of availability of the latest graphics cards is due to component shortages. In any case, the crazy situation has eased.
