Looks like Deadpool has finally joined the MCU To promote Ryan Reynolds' latest film, "Free Guy," the mouthy man has teamed up with the MCU's Korg to create a new reaction-style video that incorporates Deadpool's signature fourth-wall-breaking humor
The spoof video is almost certainly classified as non-canon, but it is still important as it marks the first time Reynolds' Deadpool has interacted with an MCU character Korg appears in the video because he is voiced by Taika Waititi, who also appears in "Free Guy"
The video begins with Deadpool welcoming viewers to his mock reaction channel, before introducing Korg, claiming that he is the only MCU character and that the others are "on Disney Plus" The video continues with the two watching the trailer for the upcoming blockbuster "Free Guy" while making some meta jabs about Disney buying Fox
Deadpool also jokes that "Deadpool 3" has yet to see the light of day because Reynolds has been too busy with other projects like "Free Guy" The entire video is very self-aware and full of winking quotes that longtime Marvel fans would really get a kick out of
Most interestingly, the video ends with Deadpool asking Korg if he has any "tips for getting into the MCU" This is no doubt played for laughs as Korg responds with a lengthy speech about "chasing your dreams," but it is perhaps the strongest sign yet that Disney sees a place for Deadpool within its massive MCU franchise
Since Disney completed its acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, fans have speculated how Deadpool would be integrated into the MCU canon While there were concerns that Deadpool's chops might conflict with the strict PG-13 nature of the MCU, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed earlier this year that a third Deadpool film would happen and would be R-rated
The crossover video seemed to strike a chord with Marvel fans, garnering over 4 million views in less than 24 hours It will no doubt inspire several people to check out "Free Guy," which will be released next month The film is just one in a huge wave of summer movies coming out in the next few weeks
