Update: Nothing Ear (1) Review
While the Nothing Ear (1) was technically announced months ago, this pair of true wireless earbuds finally has a design and release date along with all the pre-announced details
As promised, Ear (1), the first product from OnePlus co-founder Carr Pei's Nothing company, features an eye-catching transparent enclosure that reveals the internal components and circuit board; it will be available for a limited release on July 31, followed by a general release on August 17 [We had already seen and heard about the specs and features of the Nothing Ear (1), including active noise cancellation and up to 38 hours of battery life However, this is with ANC not turned on
Turning to the design, we see primarily AirPods Pro-style stems, but it is good to see interchangeable silicone eartips confirmed The buds are splash and sweat proof
Speaking of controls, Nothing also announced an Ear (1) app, which includes limited EQ customization, ANC toggles, and the ability to customize touch gestures to perform different inputs
As for sound quality, Nothing aims for an even frequency balance, with tuning assistance from professional audio company Teenage Engineering Relatively large 116mm drivers provide the tunes, and three microphone arrays can pick up ambient noise that ANC blocks out
And the price for these features? As previously reported, the Nothing Ear (1) will sell for $99, less than half the price of the AirPods Pro and below even cheaper ANC earbuds like the Beats Studio Buds This is a very aggressive price point, and it appears that Ear (1) is trying to challenge the best noise-canceling earbuds in terms of features
"Nothing ear (1) is a breath of fresh air in a cluttered and indifferent market and a sign of the direction of the connected digital world to come It "delivers advanced technology, precision engineering, and groundbreaking design at an unbelievable price"
The company's products are "the first of their kind in the world, and the first of their kind in the world
Our own review of the Nothing Ear (1) will be published later this week; the Ear (1) will be available directly from Nothing when it goes on sale July 31 and August 17
