PS5 replenishment remains a mess, but Sony feels "bad" about it

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan commented on the PS5 inventory shortage that has persisted since its launch, not good news for anyone looking to buy a PS5 without having to play PS5 restocking games.

In an interview with Reuters, the PlayStation big boss said: "We've been able to produce PlayStation faster than ever before, and we've been able to get the PS5 back into the hands of our customers. But on the other hand, it takes time before we are able to meet all the demand that is out there, and I feel bad."

The company's CEO, Mr. Raju Raju, said: "We have a lot of people who are looking for a new console.

Ryan further explains that one of the key issues affecting the company's console manufacturing capacity is the ongoing global chip shortage. He said, "Our partners work really well for us, but the chip shortage is definitely a challenge we are all navigating.

These words seem to confirm that it will be a long time before we can get our hands on a PS5 without the hassle of regularly checking retailer listings and following various inventory tracking social media accounts. At least for the foreseeable future, the PS5 will remain very hard to come by for those willing to make the effort.

Furthermore, with only a few months left until the holiday season, demand for the console will likely only increase without a significant increase in inventory. Mainstay console exclusives "Deathloop" and "Horizon:"

Also, with the release of "Deathloop" and "Horizon: Forbidden West" expected before the end of the year, there could be even more gamers eagerly awaiting a PS5 console.

Frustratingly, this news is not a huge shock. An anonymous industry analyst previously told Bloomberg that PS5 inventory levels are not expected to improve until 2022. Sony also called the demand for the machine "unprecedented" and said that demand has not eased more than six months after the November 2020 launch.

Also this week, it was revealed that the PS5 is the fastest-selling console in PlayStation history. The next-generation console has sold 10 million units to date, a feat that took its predecessor, the PS4, about nine months to accomplish.

The platform's most popular exclusives are "Spider-Man: Miles Morales," which has sold 6.5 million copies, and the recently released "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart," which has sold 1.1 million copies in just over a month since its release. These numbers at least confirm that some people are actually able to purchase the consoles, even if it feels like most of the inventory has been siphoned off by duffers.

If you're hoping to pick up a PS5 in the coming weeks, keep an eye on the PS5 restocking hub. Here you will find the latest restocking information and updates as they become available, and while we can't guarantee that you'll get a PS5, we can certainly help you out.
