It's no secret that AMD CPUs and GPUs like the Radeon RX 6700 XT are hard to find in stock due to component shortages, and AMD Zen 4 and RDNA 3 components are apparently "on track" for a 2022 launch.

As reported by TechSpot, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su confirmed during an investor conference call that neither the Zen 4 Ryzen CPU nor the RDNA 3 Radeon RX GPU are expected to be delayed to 2023.

Anyone who has tried to find a buyer for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 will know how production issues, an active scaler market, and increased demand from cryptocurrency miners are all mixed together.

CPUs have not been immune from similar pressures; the AMD Ryzen 5000 series, based on the Zen 3 architecture, is now relatively readily available, but was previously as rare as AMD's GPUs.

Thus, one might be relieved to hear that AMD's next-generation components will be released on schedule. However, whether they will be released with enough inventory to meet demand will be another story altogether.

As for what exactly we can expect from these 2022 components, AMD itself has not revealed any details, except that the Zen 4 will use an ultra-fine 5-nanometer manufacturing process, down from the 7nm of the Zen 3 chip.

We have also heard various rumors about the RDNA 3, including that it will use a next-generation graphics core but may be based on a Navi 33 GPU that will match the existing Navi 21 processor. Just this week, there were also rumors of a new flagship Navi 31 GPU to take over from the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Whatever AMD is planning, we at least have a rough idea of when to expect it; some PC owners may even want to wait for this next generation instead, if they are frustrated by the current generation's graphics cards' ongoing lack of might even be willing to wait for this next generation instead.
