PS5 restocking could be even more difficult this fall, though navigating to get your hands on the console is already very difficult.

TechRadar's Matt Swider, who has been tracking PlayStation 5 inventory declines since its launch last November, reports that anyone hoping to get their hands on a PS5 will need to do some legwork over the next two months.

Swider's prediction was met with some praise from Anshel Sugg, senior analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, who told TechRadar: "Frankly, I don't see this shortage improving until next year.

While it would be logical to expect PS5 production to ramp up for the holiday season, according to Sugg, the semiconductor shortage that is already plaguing chip manufacturing overall will rear its head.

"With Qualcomm and Apple accounting for the bulk of 5nm, even with process node optimization, there is not much capacity left to handle the surge in demand," explained Sugg.

"There still seems to be a lot of demand in the PC gaming sector, which is suffering from the worst GPU shortage I've ever seen in my 15+ year career.

Sony has already acknowledged that there is a disruption in inventory shortages and has said it will try to increase production, but there is only so much the company can do in the face of an industry crisis. Also, finding restocks of the Xbox Series X is not easy.
