Spotify Test 99 Cents Spotify Plus Plan — Here's What You Get

It seems every streaming service needs a Plus, and Spotify Plus is the latest combatant in this war, at least for those lucky users who have discovered they are being offered this new feature that Spotify is testing.

Spotify told The Verge that it is testing Spotify Plus. The plan is a mix of the current free plan and the Spotify Premium plan. For $1 per month, users will be able to skip as many songs as they want and choose specific songs from any album or playlist. No more forced shuffling!

Currently, non-paying Spotify customers can skip six songs per hour and can only select specific songs from 15 playlists curated by Spotify editors and algorithms.

The price of $0.99 per month is not fixed. Apparently, Spotify is testing Spotify Plus at various price points to see how much users will spend on this package.

Spotify Plus still includes advertising, so don't expect to be left to DJ the party; just look at HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, and Paramount Plus. [Just look at HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, and Paramount Plus. Usually, you either pay to turn off the ads, or you listen to them without spending any money. This includes Apple Music and Amazon's three paid music subscription services (Amazon Music Prime, Amazon Music Unlimited, and Amazon Music HD).

This service would set Spotify apart and give users more control at one-tenth the price of a premium plan.

However, testing does not necessarily guarantee a final product, so Spotify Plus may not actually materialize anytime soon. A spokesperson told The Verge, "Some tests will pave the way for new services and enhancements, while others will only provide learnings. We have no additional information to share at this time."
