Apple Watch 7 clone shows the biggest rumored design changes

The Apple Watch 7 is expected to have a new flat-edge look, similar to the recent 2021 iPad Pro and iPhone 12. And now a Chinese Apple Watch 7 clone has emerged that appears to mimic the rumored design changes.

The new design of the Apple Watch 7 has been rumored for some time, and according to renderings based on CAD designs, it should look something like this: [But the rendered images only tell us so much. If you want something a little more concrete, we recommend China, where imitations based on CAD designs abound in the streets.

As shared by leaker Majin Bu, who just yesterday confirmed the wearable's new size, these Apple Watch 7 clones give us an idea of what the new Apple Watch will look like, albeit rather rough.

Needless to say, if you dare buy one of these knockoffs, you won't get the experience you'd expect from an actual Apple Watch; according to Bu, they sell for about $60 (about 15% of the Apple Watch 6's U.S. retail price) and are available in a variety of colors and styles, likely to run software skinned to look like WatchOS, but without the same level of functionality.

In any case, with a little squinting, one can imagine what the new flat design will look like in the real world and imagine it to be quite sophisticated. In particular, the display and chassis will be a bit more elegant to interact with than what is on display here.

Furthermore, we are told that the Apple Watch 7 will introduce "new lamination technology" that will bring the display closer to the top cover, making it easier to see. Obviously, that is missing here.

Otherwise, there have been surprisingly few leaks about the Apple Watch 7. As usual, we also expect a faster processor and Apple to go big on health features, but sadly, the expected blood sugar monitoring is reportedly missing in action until next year at the earliest.

A few weeks ago, it was also reported that Apple will introduce a "Time to Run" feature to complement the "Time to Walk" mode currently offered to Apple Fitness Plus subscribers. The current version has celebrities such as Dolly Parton and Shawn Mendes talking about something while walking, so expect something similar but designed to encourage a faster pace.

No doubt more will be revealed when Apple officially launches the new wearable. We expect the Apple Watch 7 to launch next month, but whether that will happen at the same event as the iPhone 13 remains to be seen.
