"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is a game that keeps kicking, so much so that another release is being planned for its 10th anniversary. Bethesda's high fantasy RPG is still hanging on after nearly a decade, thanks in part to its large modding community. The nature of the game allows for a variety of interpretations, and there will probably be mods for just about anything imaginable.

The place to get mods for Skyrim is Nexus Mods, which is where most people go for their mod needs; mods are removed from Nexus for various community and copyright violations, but as PC Gamer reported, a recent controversy called NoSkyrim.

The premise of NoSkyrim is simple: it literally makes the game unplayable. Why anyone would want to install such a thing is beyond me, but if you're addicted to Skyrim, this mod will help you move on to something new. It baffles me.

It is not surprising that this mod was removed from Nexus. Still, that didn't stop developer ThatLittleCommie from creating a change.org petition, starting a r/SaveNoSkyrim Reddit community, and uploading the mod to LoversLab's site (which comes with a hefty NSFW warning (which has a hefty NSFW warning attached).

I have been away from Skyrim mods for a year and am not aware of all the mods on Nexus. However, I had never heard of NoSkyrim until this point. It is a mod that fundamentally destroys the game and even messes up the loading order (as one user pointed out).

Mods that serve a small, sole purpose are not uncommon, but NoSkyrim has only one function and I can't imagine anyone asking for it. I'm all for modders doing what they want with their games, but it's hard to say who's right on this one; I understand why Nexus Mods removed NoSkyrim, but I also understand the frustration of the developers; the uproar that ThatLittleCommie has caused has made me think that the game is being intentionally I doubt that the mods that intentionally break the game will be returned to Nexus, though.
