Who ordered the live-action Rick and Morty? If you asked the AdultSwim gods for the perfect casting, you're in luck Because it turns out that the person (or character) who inspired Rick Sanchez actually plays him
However, considering this clip and the Season 5 finale trailer side by side, one begins to wonder if Christopher Lloyd will be appearing on "Rick and Morty" this coming Sunday Time is short, so let me explain below
AdultSwim tweeted evidence of this today (September 3) In the 14-second long clip, which can be seen below, fans of Rick and Morty will recognize the mad scientist's garage
Then Christopher Lloyd, dressed in a drab white lab coat and bright blue shirt, appears, says "Morty," belches, and says "I'm home" Right next to Lloyd is Jayden Martell as Morty (according to GamesRadar), who says the only thing he can say: rubbing the back of his head and neck anxiously, he says, "Holy crap"
The tweet is captioned C-132, which refers to their universe
More on this may be revealed in the season 5 finale of "Rick and Morty," airing this Sunday, in two episodes titled "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall" and "Rickmurai Jack" Or AdultSwim may leave the matter in limbo, to be revealed at a later date My guess is that this is a special show that will air between seasons It may or may not be canon
There is also the question of what this could be There has yet to be a Rick and Morty animated film, much less a live-action film At best, I suspect it will be a one-off episode, or at least a scene in the middle of an episode
This clip makes me think that it may be related to the finale, just because he talks about using the portal and finally getting home In the cold open clip (available online below), Morty fixes Rick's mistake by jumping through a series of portals (which is why it may be related to that live-action clip)
Then Morty goes home and paints his hand with portal goo in an attempt to make Rick think he wasn't traveling across dimensions That's when things get really crazy
Though it may be a thing unto itself, AdultSwim, which just celebrated its 20th anniversary, is known for doing strange things to amuse itself
The appearance was sort of inevitable after Lloyd admitted that he "hopes" to guest or appear in the series in 2018
