[There are several notable exclusives coming to PS5, including "God of War: Ragnarok," "Horizon Forbidden West," and "Gran Turismo 7. Granted, we have not heard much about them recently. Sony also hasn't announced any new PS5 exclusives in recent months. However, Sony has announced the PlayStation Showcase 2021, which will take place today, Thursday, September 9, at 4 p.m. ET.

The news comes directly from the official PlayStation Blog and is quite simple. Sony will be holding a PS5 game showcase later today to provide updates on existing titles as well as announce several new ones.

"The showcase will last approximately 40 minutes and will include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry's most imaginative developers on games coming out this holiday season and beyond," the post explains.

The PlayStation Showcase will take place today, Thursday, September 9 at 1pm PT/4pm ET/9pm BST. For more information on how to watch, please see below.

It is a bit difficult to determine what will be announced, as Sony has not revealed the specific games they plan to discuss. However, all three games mentioned above ("God of War," "Horizon," and "Gran Turismo") are scheduled for release next year, and it's been a while since we've had substantial updates on these games. The release dates for "God of War" and "Gran Turismo" in particular will be unwelcome.

"Some of the industry's most imaginative developers" are also open to third-party entrants, and one game we're eager to hear more about, exclusive to the PS5 console, is "Final Fantasy XVI."

At E3 in 2021, we'll hear about this game in significant We had hoped for an update, but it never happened. Now seems like the perfect time to delve deeper into Square Enix's latest installment of the long-running series.

A 40-minute show is plenty of time to introduce the eight games in reasonable detail. Of course, Sony could have featured fewer deep-dive games or showcased more games in the compilation trailer. After the showcase, Sony will also host a dialogue with developers to get more information about individual titles.

One thing to note, however, is that the PlayStation Showcase will not include information about the next generation PSVR hardware. It is expected that there will be another live stream about it in the not-too-distant future.
