Battlefield 2042 Rumored Battle Royale mode is a waste of everyone's time

A new mode for "Battlefield 2042" will soon be revealed. The game's developer, Dice, has announced that a trailer for the currently unreleased Hazard Zone mode will be released this week, and fans are already speculating about the contents of this new mode.

The Hazard Zone announcement trailer is currently scheduled to be released on Thursday, October 14 at 11 a.m. ET, and the mode is described as "an all-new high-stakes multiplayer experience where every bullet, every skirmish, and every decision matters." It is described as. It definitely sounds like a battle royale mode.

If Hazard Zone is indeed a battle royale-style mode, it would not be the first for the franchise; 2018's Battlefield 5 implemented a mode called "Firestorm" a few months after launch, where players competed to be the last one on a rapidly shrinking map. While the mode showed promise, it never found a player base to sustain it and is generally considered a failure by the Battlefield community.

Hazard Zone is one of the three pillars of Battlefield 2042. It sits alongside All-Out Warfare, a traditional Battlefield experience with modes such as Conquest and Rush played on large maps. The Battlefield Portal also allows users to create custom matches by combining content from various Battlefield masterpieces.

The exact nature of the Hazard Zone is still unknown, but it seems likely that it will at least have elements of a Battle Royale mode. So who actually wants a Battlefield 2042 battle royale?

Community reaction to this prospect has been rather muted. It must be remembered that the majority of the core players of the "Battlefield" series were not enthusiastic about the last attempt at a battle royale.

Another problem is that "Battlefield 2042" will be available for $70 full price on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and $60 on PS4/Xbox One, which is a fairly high barrier to entry. This could easily result in the "Battlefield 2042" hazard zone not having the player base necessary to sustain itself. After all, the most well-known games in the battle royale genre, such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty Warzone, all have reasons to be free to play.

There is also the question of whether investing in a battle royale mode is a good use of developer resources. After the beta of Battlefield 2042, it is clear that the game is in a rather immature state and definitely needs further polishing. Wouldn't the time and effort spent chasing the tasty train called Battle Royale have been better spent on making the multiplayer experience, the star of "Battlefield 2042," a little more polished?

Of course, it is possible that Hazard Zone will be a more unique take on the Battle Royale formula, or even something else entirely. Furthermore, expect to hear a lot more about Hazard Zone and Battlefield 2042 in general as we get closer to the November 19 release date.
