AMD RX6900XT Halo Infinite Edition Announced - Microsoft Has Plans To Thwart Scalpers

Whether it's the Xbox Series X or the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, duffers have been quick to buy up inventory and sell their consumer electronics at inflated prices, but Microsoft is trying to turn speculators away with its new AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT GPU Halo Infinite Edition It seems Microsoft is trying to drive away speculators with its new AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT GPU Halo Infinite Edition.

In a blog post, Microsoft announced new brand partnerships with AMD and other hardware manufacturers. The most notable item is a gorgeous AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT GPU inspired by Master Chief's Mark VII Mjolnir armor. The GPU is in the military green that Master Chief is best known for, with gold accents around the center fan. Clearly, this is a must-have card for Halo PC fans. But Microsoft and AMD know all too well the current product production crunch and how quickly opportunists will turn this card inside out for hefty profits.

Instead of selling the Halo Infinite Edition RX 6900 XT in stores, Microsoft and AMD are considering a different system to ensure fans get this limited edition GPU.

"From the beginning, it was critical for both AMD and 343 Industries to get this special card into the hands of players," said Noah Benesch said in a Halo Waypoint post. While the limited edition Halo Infinite AMD Radeon 6900XT will not be available, AMD, Halo, and other partners will be offering players the opportunity to obtain one over the next few weeks." Stay tuned for the first chance to apply and win, which will be announced later today [October 21].

In other words, it appears that AMD and Microsoft will be offering the cards in a drawing. It is unclear if the cards will be given away for free or if winners will be able to purchase them. This means that avid Halo fans will have to try their luck. Microsoft also did not reveal how much the card might cost; given that the RX 6900 XT has an MSRP of $999, it is likely to be at least that much. However, given that it is a limited edition, it could be much higher if these cards are sold.

In any case, stay tuned to Halo's Twitter account for the latest updates.

Along with the GPU announcement, Microsoft also announced that ray tracing will be included in Halo Infinite on both PC and consoles; given that the Xbox's Series S is considerably weaker than the Series X, it is likely that ray tracing will be one of Microsoft's more heavily No wonder it is a feature reserved for consoles only.

Microsoft also announced that new Halo Infinite-themed mechanical keyboards, mice, and headsets will be available along with Razer. These peripherals do not appear to be behind a lottery wall, and consumers should be able to go buy these items individually. No release date for these peripherals has been announced.

Halo Infinite will be available on December 8.
