Halo Infinite campaign trailer shows off a whole new way to play as Master Chief

Update: A campaign video for "Halo Infinite" has been released, revealing how the game plays and how the open areas work.

Although "Halo Infinite" has been delayed by a year due to major delays, the December 8 release on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC is finally approaching. And to get gamers excited, Microsoft and 343 Industries have released a new campaign trailer that looks much better than the poorly received original.

In a post to the "Halo Waypoint" blog, the team released a new 6:20 minute trailer for Halo Infinite. Not only does it feature better graphics, but it also explains more clearly the story that players will experience in what 343 calls "the biggest campaign ever."

Below is the campaign overview trailer for Halo Infinite. The story is about Master Chief's pursuit of his former AI assistant, Cortona, who has run amok in an attempt to destroy humanity. For the loner-like Master Chief, Cortona is like his only friend.

Joining him is a new AI, codenamed "The Weapon," whose goal is to lock down Cortana.

The game takes place in Zeta Halo, a lush world where outcasts flock together.

As far as gameplay is concerned, Halo has always been a sort of wide but linear open world. While there were large levels for gamers to play, there was usually only one way to progress through the campaign, and that was to move from one firefight to the next. In Infinite, as in Far Cry 6, it appears that Master Chief will be taking down enemy outposts. It also appears that players will be able to upgrade their abilities, a common RPG mechanism.

Overall, 343 Industries seems to have used the one-year extension well. Not that last year's trailer was bad, but it lacked the last few layers of polish expected of an Xbox AAA title. Fans were concerned about the game after key players in the project left 343. It also didn't help that the game was reportedly facing problems due to massive outsourcing.

In any case, we will have to wait and see how "Halo Infinite" turns out when it is released on December 8 for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
