Disney Plus Day is a non-stop celebration of announcements, and nowhere is that more true than with Marvel's announcement
Not only did Disney premiere footage of Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms Marvel, but they also revealed that a new Marvel series is on the horizon
You can watch the entire special on Disney Plus right now, but good things don't happen until you get past the 12-minute mark It starts with a short Moon Knight teaser, then quickly moves on to She-Hulk, and finally to Ms Marvel
Even as a teaser, this is still a very brief look at what these three series have to offer It doesn't reveal that much about what's going on, but it's certainly enough to make one want to see more
Aside from Oscar Isaac's dodgy (and goofy) English accent, Moon Knight seems the most intriguing of the three This is because Mark Spector, played by Isaac, clearly has no idea what is happening to him, or whether he is actually a vigilante with psychic powers bestowed upon him by the Egyptian moon god Conch
That Spector has dissociative identity disorder will be familiar to anyone who knows the character from the comics The Moon Knight series seems to have been inspired by M Night Shyamalan's Split, and his superhero and vigilante activities will (initially) be limited to one of his alternate personalities
"She-Hulk" is similarly lacking in detail, and even Jennifer Walter in Hulk mode has not been fully revealed: first, she can still transition into her normal human form (something the comic book character does not), and second, the Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo play a key role in understanding her powers
Similarly, Ruffalo appears as both the Hulk and Banner, which ties into the post-credits scene in "Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"
There also appears to be at least one sequence that mimics the original Hulk TV series from the 1970s, featuring Ruffalo dressed like Bill Bixby and Tatiana Maslany uttering the famous "Don't make me mad" line This spoof further solidifies the idea that this part of the MCU leans more toward comedy than previous franchises
Finally, "Ms Marvel" appears to be coming to terms with Kamala Khan gaining new abilities Can a Muslim girl from New Jersey become a superhero? The comics say yes, but it's up to Khan to figure it out It is clear that she is a Captain Marvel fanatic, which is an integral part of the character
However, we still don't really know what her power is or how she got it Given her connection to the Inhumans in the comics, this is probably one of the things Marvel would like to forget about in a live-action adaptation
All three series are slated to debut in 2022, but that's not all If" and a second season of "Loki" are in the works, as well as Disney has more spin-off shows in the works
"Echo" will spin out of "Hawkeye" and focus on a deaf hero with "photographic reflexes," and "Agatha House of Harkness" will undoubtedly feature the breakout star of "WandaVision Also on the horizon are what appear to be new animated series from the MCU: Spider-Man: The Freshman Year, Marvel Zombies, and the return of the 90s X-Men animated series X-Men '97
In addition, Disney reminded us that there are shorts for "Guardians of the Galaxy" holiday special, "Ironheart," "Armor Wars," and "I Am Groot"
And you thought watching the Marvel movies in order was already a marathon event This is going to make that process a hell of a lot harder
