Best Buy has not restocked the PS5 in over two weeks, but today they have turned a corner and are now restocking the PS5. Several media outlets had reported that Best Buy may restock the PS5 between December 6 and December 8, and that information has proven to be accurate.

The electronics retailer had missed the timing of the restocking, especially since the next-generation gaming console was not sold during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. The even better news is that this restocking is open to all, not just Totaltech members.

We are quite skeptical that this Best Buy PS5 restock will happen. The speculation about this restocking stems from a Twitter user named @ChitoGaminYT who shared a promotional brochure with a list of PS5 products among various gaming information provided by Best Buy.

The bottom of the brochure reads, "Prices and promotions valid from 6/21/12 through 8/21/12 unless otherwise noted."

It states. This is taken by some as confirmation that the Best Buy PS5 will be restocked between these dates. We are not so sure, but we have seen online rumors proven correct, so we are keeping a close eye on this retailer just in case.

Best Buy has a history of restocking PS5s on Mondays, so today's (December 6) arrival seems most likely. The bad news is that most of the retailer's recent inventory clearance requires a Totaltech membership. This membership, which costs $200 per year, makes Best Buy's pay-per-release restocking the most egregious of all.

It should be noted that Best Buy is not the only company that offers PS5 restocks exclusively to members of its premium rewards program, but the reason the drop is so bad is the high cost of a Totaltech subscription. GameStop is a PowerUp Reward through its Pro membership to be among the first to get the next generation of consoles restocked, but the cost is only $15 per year.

Amazon also attempts to give Prime members priority access to PS5 restocks, but Prime membership is reasonably priced at $12.99 per month. In addition, Prime members receive many other benefits, including access to the popular streaming services Prime Video and Prime Music, making it well worth becoming a Prime member even before the PS5 restocking offer was introduced.

As with most retailers, setting up a Best Buy account in advance is a top priority. Having your payment details, address, and other information saved in advance can save you valuable time at checkout.

Previously, Best Buy's PS5 restocking required refreshing the product page until the yellow "Add to Cart" button or gray "Please Wait" button appeared. However, Best Buy's new process puts you on a waiting list. A pop-up window will appear with a "Confirm Account" and a confirmation of inventory. You will therefore need to sign in to your account immediately.
