VR in us has been announced — now you can act sus in virtual reality

During The Game Awards 2021, it was announced that an all-new VR version of "Among Us" will be added to the game.

This new version is being developed by Schell Games, best known for their popular VR series "I Expect You To Die," and appears to be a surprisingly faithful VR adaptation of the popular social con game.

From the very short trailer accompanying the game's announcement, it appears that the core mechanics of Among Us have been maintained in its transition into the 3D virtual reality space. As players complete tasks in the spaceship, they are attacked by crew members who appear to be imposters.

What more do we need to know about this work? At this point, "Among Us" is an established entity, and there is little reason to believe that "Among Us VR" will do anything to revamp the formula that has made it so successful. Expecting the same gameplay loop as the core game, only with the added immersion that virtual reality brings, seems like a pretty appealing combination to us.

Among Us VR has no release date yet, but at least we know which VR platform it will be released on. The game will be available on Meta Quest, PlayStation VR, and SteamVR, covering all major players in the VR space. Cross-play between each platform has not been confirmed, but this seems like a wise decision to keep the player base healthy in the long run.

If you want to play Along Us even sooner, the original 2D game will be available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on December 14. If you've been living under a rock, "Among Us" was originally released in 2018 but exploded in popularity last year, and this VR version may give the game a second wind.
