Strange Doctor in a crazy Multiverse Release date, cast and everything we know so far

Thanks to Loki and the Wandervision ending, we're all set for Doctor Strange in the "Madness Multiverse" Yes, folks, we are about to dive deep into the Marvel rabbit hole Of course, consider this a major spoiler alert for the events of these two shows

Yes, we are excited about this next installment, and not just because of the excellent Doctor It is because of the second half of the title, "The Multiverse of Madness" As the end of "Loki" made clear, a major multiverse war is at hand in the MCU in the future Not to mention Maximoff's search for the missing children

A sequel to Doctor Strange may be a little further down the road, but it's a crazy big deal for the Marvel Cinematic Universe So we're looking forward to seeing how "Doctor Strange" in the "crazy multiverse" will change the MCU as we know it today

The release date for "Doctor Strange" has been set as Disney has significantly delayed all major films It will now be released on May 6, 2022 (the previous release date of "Thor: Love and Thunder") [Black Widow] (May 7, 2021), "Shan Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" (July 9, 2021), "Eternals" (November 5, 2021), and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (December 17, 2021) Of these, we have only heard that "Spider-Man 3" will be intertwined with "Doctor Strange" in "The Multiverse of Madness"

As for the basic cast, it has been confirmed that Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor will reprise their "Doctor Strange" roles

Things got even more interesting at the December 2020 Investor's Day event There, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that "Doctor Strange: The Madness Multiverse" will be linked to two other Marvel projects, giving us a pretty big clue as to who will be in the film

This means that Elizabeth Olsen (as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch) will be in the film, and it would not be surprising to see Tom Holland (as Peter Parker/Spider-Man) Olsen was confirmed by Marvel, but Holland was not

Then, on July 14, 2021, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Tom Hiddleston (Loki) is expected to appear in Doctor Strange: The Madness Multiverse Given that Sylvie, played by Sofia di Martino, shattered the sacred timeline, we are not necessarily surprised Like Holland, however, Hiddleston's involvement has not been confirmed by Marvel

Here's the cast we do know:

There is no trailer for Doctor Strange 2, at least not an official one The first "Doctor Strange: The Madness Multiverse" trailer has apparently been leaked (more details in that article) - and it is apparently also related to the screening of "Spider-Man: No Way Home"

Not in this universe, nor in any other multiverse With more than a year to go before the release date, we don't expect the trailer to come to fruition anytime soon

Given its association with "Spider-Man: No Way Home," the trailer for the "Madness Multiverse" will no doubt appear in late December 2021 or early January 2022 Its unveiling in Spider-Man's post-credits scene seems certain

The official but leaked synopsis (according to Backstage) is "After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone But an old friend-turned-enemy puts an end to his plans, and Strange unleashes an unspeakable evil"

That old friend is probably Mordo (Chiwetel Eijofor) In the post-credits scene in Doctor Strange, we see Mordo paralyzing Jonathan Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt) again Mordo accused him of trying to steal their powers and said there were too many sorcerers in the world

Nevertheless, this may be just a red herring to set up the real villain, whom fans deduce is Mephisto Fans believe that Mephisto, the Marvel world's version of the devil, will appear in Wander Vision and are currently working on clues They mainly point to a possible Easter egg in Wander Vision Episode 9, where the "M&B" logo was painted on the sign behind Agatha Harkness; the M&B could represent Mephisto and Blackheart, the latter being the son of the devil himself

And then there is the possibility of the madness of how Doctor Strange in "The Madness Multiverse" plays with the concept of the multiverse Rumor has it that "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will feature cameos by the two main characters of the previous Spider-Man films (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield), so there are basically no bets on the content of this sequel's story Tony Stark and Steve Rogers may also make an appearance

Also, spoiler alert regarding the end of "Wanda Vision": it appears that Wanda is trying to track down the kids and was using the dark hold to track down Billy and Tommy, whose voices were heard in the last scene Olsen said of Doctor Strange in "The Madness Multiverse," "It's a very scary movie It's like old Sam Raimi They're trying to make the scariest Marvel movie"
