There is no shortage of gaming laptops, but LG's first attempt piqued our interest. Especially since the UltraGear 17G90Q is powered by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080.

The newly announced laptop combines the Max-Q mobile version of Nvidia's very popular graphics card with an 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake H processor, up to 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. All this for gaming on a 17-inch 1080p IPS display with a 300Hz refresh rate, so clearly LG is going for a high frame rate experience over ultra-sharp 1440p or 4K visuals.

This powerful set of specs is housed in a laptop that makes the LG Gram 17 look like a gaming laptop. It is slim (less than 21.4 mm thick) and lightweight (weighing less than 5.9 pounds), yet features an RGB keyboard, lighting on the purplish-gray aluminum chassis, and the UltraGear logo on the lid.

As for connectivity, the UltraGear 17G90Q has two USB-C ports (one of which is USB 4 compatible), two USB-A ports, HDMI connectivity, a microSD card slot, Ethernet, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This is a pretty good choice for a laptop that is hardly chunky.

Other features include a built-in two-way speaker system with DTS:X Ultra support and Intel Killer Wireless connectivity. In short, LG's UltraGear 17G90Q looks to be a very promising first attempt at a gaming laptop.

The LG UltraGear 17G90Q will be officially unveiled at CES on January 4, 2022, but no official price or release date has been set yet.

This is because at CES, Asus, Razer, MSI, and others tend to announce new and upgraded models of gaming machines and rank in the best gaming laptops list.
