The Pixel 6 Pro already ranks on our best Android phones list, but this new gaming feature makes it even better.

Currently, Pixel 6 Pro users can stream games at 120fps when using the Nvidia GeForce Now RTX 3080 layer.

GeForce Now is Nvidia's cloud-based game streaming service that allows subscribers to play high-end PC games on a variety of convenient devices, including laptops, Apple and Android phones, tablets, and LG TVs. The 3080 tier was in beta, but has since been made available to everyone. The bulk of the experience is handled in the cloud, but certain feature elements require a phone capable of outputting the necessary resolution and frames per second for an optimal experience.

Fortunately for Pixel 6 Pro owners, as 9to5Google noticed, Nvidia's official support page has been updated to support 120fps on the GeForce Now RTX 3080 tier. Just subscribing to the RTX 3080 tier does not immediately make 120hz gaming available. Instead, you will need to access the Pixel 6 Pro settings and adjust a few things.

To get 120fps gaming capability on the Pixel 6 Pro, one must go to Settings > GeForce Now > Stream Quality > Frame Rate and set it to 120fps.

Of course, you also want to make sure it is set to a 120hz refresh rate to make sure the phone is ready to accept that frame rate. You can check this by going to Settings > Display > Smooth Display. Now you are ready to play games at blazing fast frame rates.

GeForce Now has three membership tiers. The Free Tier offers up to a one-hour session, streaming games from one of Nvidia's basic gaming rigs; the $49.99 Priority Tier offers a six-hour session from a premium rig with RTX turned on for a 1080p/60fps experience. Finally, the RTX 3080 tier provides users with an 8-hour session at up to 1440p/120fps from an RTX 3080 rig.

However, to take full advantage of Pixel 6 Pro's new features, we recommend paying extra for the GeForce Now RTX 3080 tier.
